Re: Polished concrete floor
I've had dozens of desperate days on site.
One that stands out more than most was setting out groundbeams at Sizewell nuclear power plant in Suffolk had a wind chill factor of minus twelve my Mrs had just given birth and couldn't get home, ended up tying to kip in big caravan type affair with a few pissed up Geordies who's idea of dinner was cold tinned mushroom soup.
It was fucking grim.

Re: Polished concrete floor
Put newspaper on the floor. Doesn't look good but easily replaced and you can have a read when you have a break while laying it. You could as an alternative put sawdust on the bare boards, giving you a retro look.

I never had a trade I did Ground Work building Tarmac plants at 16 stock bay wall , basses and knocking over the top of piles with a jackhammer.

I remember sitting on a dumper next to the Thames freezing my nut as it was snowing

67,you strike me as a decent skin but don't understand your relevance with cobble stones and polished concrete floors(I'd imigine the op is talking about internal work.

Re: Polished concrete floor
jfk ,Not taking the piss have you done cobble stones?

My brother had his own business and I worked for him we were replacing what the gas board removed while fitting new pipes and out side meters etc, on price work

Cobble stones were 60 quid a Metre and that was in 1992 not easy though every one is individual , set down on lean mix and bedded with a vibrating plate and then wet pointed

I'm a subcontractor specialising in concrete frames.Organising power floated finished slabs is hard enough to get spot on. Polished concrete floors is not something I'd go near.
My advice would be spend time looking into proven specialists and be prepared to spend plenty to avoid a disaster.
Good luck.

'I staple bubble wrap to the floor.'

Insulating and bursting the bubbles will be a good replacement game for when you finally master Pop-Up Pets.

Re: Polished concrete floor
Powerfloating and Polished Concrete not the same thing.

Powerfloating can be achieved by most decent concrete companies.

Polished Concrete is a specialist trade and extremely expensive. Very popular at the moment.

Try E J Lazanby Ltd. They’re doing some for me.
